A marketplace built for electric rides

Welcome to eRideList — Australia's free marketplace for electric rides, electric vehicles and hybrid EVs.

Our mission

At eRideList, we’re driven by a bold vision: to create a thriving, inclusive platform where every Australian can buy, sell, rent, or offer services for e-rides, electric vehicles (EVs), and hybrid EVs—completely free. We believe sustainable transport shouldn’t come with barriers, so we’ve built a user-friendly space to connect enthusiasts, businesses, and service providers passionate about reducing carbon footprints and promoting cleaner communities.

Why we exist

Australia is buying electric — cars, bikes, scooters, boards, mobility devices. But the second-hand market for them still runs on classifieds designed for furniture. Ask the questions that actually matter for an electric ride and a general listing has nowhere to put the answer: How much battery health is left? What is the motor rated at? Is the charger certified? Is this thing even legal to ride where I live?

eRideList exists to make those questions answerable before money changes hands. Every listing form is shaped around the category it belongs to, so a seller is asked for the details a buyer of that item actually needs — and a buyer sees them laid out plainly instead of buried in a paragraph of description.

We want that to work as well in a regional town as it does in a capital city, and for a $300 second-hand e-scooter as much as for a $30,000 EV.

What makes it different

  • State-by-state legality checks. Power and speed limits for e-rideables differ sharply between states, and a device that is fine in one may not be legal in another. We compare what a seller has declared against each state's limits and show the result on the listing — the one thing no general marketplace tells you.
  • Battery safety front and centre. Our rules and battery safety reference sets out the standards that apply to e-bikes, scooters, batteries and chargers, and listings are expected to carry certification details.
  • Every listing is read by a person before it goes live — we aim to do that within 24 hours. It is a check against our content rules, not a guarantee about the item, and we are careful never to pretend otherwise.
  • Private sellers and businesses side by side, but clearly labelled, so you always know who you are dealing with and what consumer rights come with it.
  • Two-way ratings. Buyers rate sellers and sellers rate buyers, based on people who actually messaged each other about a listing.

What we offer

  • Free listings — post as many ads as you like, with up to 10 photos each, and no limit on how long you keep relisting.
  • Community connection — buyers, sellers, renters and service providers across Australia, searchable by your own area.
  • A site that works on your phone, with scam guidancebuilt into the pages where it matters rather than buried in a help centre.

We are a small start-up — and we take no commission

eRideList is a genuinely small operation, not a division of a large classifieds group. That shapes everything about how we run.

We take no commission from anyone — not from sellers, not from buyers, not from service providers. There are no listing fees, no success fees, no paid boosts and no subscriptions. We never handle your money, so there is nothing for us to take a percentage of. When you agree a price with someone here, that is the price: the whole amount goes to the seller.

Long term, we intend to keep the site free by finding a small number of sponsors whose work fits what we do — charging, servicing, safety, insurance. Any sponsor will be clearly labelled as one. Sponsorship will never buy a better position in search results, and we will never charge a seller to be seen.

What our support can and cannot do

Being small has a real downside and we would rather say it plainly than have you discover it: we do not have the support resources of an established marketplace. There is no call centre, no live chat and no overnight team. Support is by email, handled by the same small group of people who build the site.

What that means in practice:

  • General enquiries — bug reports, account questions, feature ideas — are answered on a best-efforts basis. We read everything, but a reply may take a few days rather than a few minutes.
  • Safety reports jump the queue. A report about an unsafe or recalled product, or about unlawful content, is not best-efforts — those are handled to the timeframes we commit to in our Terms and Conditions, and being small is not an excuse we will offer for missing them. If something on this site looks dangerous, tell us and it goes to the front.
  • We cannot settle disputes between users. We are not a party to your sale and have no power to award a refund or force anyone to do anything. What we can do is act on the listing and the account, and point you to the people who can help — your state fair trading body, the relevant tribunal, or the ACCC.

We would rather set that expectation honestly at the start than over-promise and let you down at the moment you need us.

Our commitment to a greener Australia

The greenest vehicle is usually the one that already exists. Keeping an EV, e-bike or scooter in service for a second and third owner avoids the emissions of building a replacement, and keeps a working battery out of the waste stream for longer.

A healthy second-hand market is one of the more useful things you can build for transport emissions — and it is the reason this site is free rather than the reason it charges. Every listing that finds a new owner for a working electric ride is one less thing manufactured and one less tank of fuel burned.

What we are not

We are a noticeboard, not a dealer, broker or escrow service. We never hold your money, never take a cut, and are not a party to any sale. We do not inspect, test or verify the items advertised — our review checks a listing against our rules, and nothing more.

The Terms and Conditions spell that out, and the FAQ covers what protections you do and do not get when buying privately versus from a business.

Join us

Whether you are clearing out a garage, running a small repair shop, or looking for your first e-bike, there is room for you here — and it costs nothing to find out.

Email support@eridelist.com.au or use the contact form. Support is email only, so there is no phone queue to sit in. Bug reports, feature ideas and "this listing looks wrong" messages are all welcome — and as a small team early on, we genuinely read and act on them.
